Mastering your emotions such as fear and greed is not easy. It results in taking profits too early and keeping losing trades hoping they would turn around :)
Really enjoyed this piece—it captures the delicate balance traders walk every day. The mental game is arguably the hardest part—more than strategy, more than execution. In your experience, what’s been the most effective way to override emotional impulses, especially in the heat of a trade? I’ve found that structured journaling helps, but sometimes the real challenge is sticking to my own rules when the market gets wild. Would love to hear your take on maintaining discipline when everything is screaming at you to do the opposite.
Sticking to my own rules.. or rather not having a rule book thick enough. I.e. analysis was good, position, entry, exit idea good... then staring for too long how it plays [out of curiosity] getting tired, closing position early due to "I'm tired, not sure anymore, better not risk, close". Next day I see PA hit beautifully where my initial TP was. Where is the rule of not staying for too long in front of the screen? Non existent. Anyone relates? :)
Very cool analogy of the tightrope and trading, same actions at the lower risk and capital levels to the bigger risk and capital but a leap in psychology, mindset and emotions.
I really like the tightrope analogy. I’m about to start reading this book, thank you for the recommendation. It also reminds me of Trading in the Zone by Mark Douglas.
I recently bought Mastering the Mental Game of Trading after seeing your recommendation and it just arrived. I am looking forward to reading it. I found Mental Game of TRading by Jared Tendler to be another interesting book. Please share any other literature on trading you found useful. Even just having a good read to take you away from the charts for a while can be worth it!
“There are two types of pain you will go through in life, the pain of discipline and the pain of regret. Discipline weighs ounces while regret weighs tonnes.” Every morning you must choose one.
Absolutely fantastic writeup, one of the things I'm currently working as like almost everyone we just focus on the technical side at first and the mental game is almost always on a secondary place, even sometimes neglected.
I hope you’re doing well. I signed up with PrimeXBT using the wrong email address (starting with customerrelations……….@gmail.com) instead of the one I used to fill out the Google form (also starting with „customerrelations…………..@gmail.com). However, I did make the $500 trade as required. I’ve been in touch with PrimeXBT support, and they confirmed that my account is linked under your affiliate link. Would you be able to verify this and confirm my participation in the educational trading course? I have screenshots of my account and trade if needed.
Thank you so much — I’d really appreciate your help! 🙏

This is maybe my highest skill. Since i'm used to it from my job.

Thank you XO for your work and insights, it has been really helpful and saved me this year from keeping it together.
